• cities : 1 : berlin

modes of transportation : 1 : on foot

    people : 1 : me

duration of wanderlust : 7 hours : charlottenstrasse --> museum island: pergamonmuseum --> alexanderplatz --> prenzlauer berg : dunckerstrasse - kakao cafe ----------> square one

particularly nice people bumped into : 5 : (including a street-crossing man who volunteered an in-depth architectural history of the building i was snapping a shot of)

funny faces & other interestingnesses : countless! : all over the place

a remarkable building powered entirely by solar panels (see face) & wind energy (see roof)

i really, really enjoyed berlin's funky, eclectic architectural vibe:

an organic and energetic mix of grungy industrial + pretty pastels, old + new, serious + playful.....

    the venerable chocolatiers on charlottenstrasse:

of course i had to loiter in their shop after setting eyes on that huge chocolate pudding!

    and church. and cherub.

the chocolate buildings especially made me think of prince pondicherry : )

    the berliner dom

the charming fountain & grassy spaces of "museum island"

[fyi: this only makes sense if you're a swattie, but the word "island" here functions rather like the "beach" in parrish beach..]

    somebody's forgotten apple

does 'lust' mean something different in german?

    the excellent pergamonmuseum

one of the most endearingly sculpted goddesses, and pairs of feet in particular, that i have ever had the pleasure of meeting

the islamic arts collection @ the pergamon

very old books are so very beautiful

    cultural interplay in bowl-form

superstylish work by a contemporary turkish designer ---

(definitely not the most kid-friendly chess set)

another contemporary turkish designer's eminently sittable work

    針鋒相對

    呵呵 在衣服店門口看到這樣的宣言 應該讓逛街的人感到很欣慰吧

i'm guessing this sign means that the building has 5 floors and a basement?

    cute! and pictorially succinct.

    自相矛盾的一寸土

    kakao!

a delectably spent half hour at the chocolate-themed bar and cafe. @ 10 dunckerstrasse

this friendly ping-pong player turned to offer me a huge 2-second grin and wave for the camera [which i didn't catch because honestly i'd been checking out the graffiti].. before focusing back on his game

    FOOTBALL!!
